Name: Trailbreaker/Trailcutter
Canon: Transformers IDW: More than Meets the Eye
Age: At least 4 million years old.
Appearance: Bara truck
History:
Trailbreaker on the TF Wiki
Canon Point: Post Issue #12, after Rewind and Cyclonus recover.
Personality:
Trailcutter, on the outside, appears to be a rather chipper Autobot. He’s upbeat, supportive, and generally an all-around nice guy. He loves a good time just like anyone else and is the type to try and lighten up a situation when things seem grim. If you need some cheering up, he’ll be there to try and make you see things in a better light, or even just to raise your mood a little. It’s not overly so--he’s not obnoxious in the least about it--but he has a talent for looking on the brighter side…
...at least when it comes to other people.
Underneath all the jokes and good times, there’s a darker side to himself. What he shows outwardly to the people around him, he reserves his pessimism for himself. Low-self esteem is the bot’s biggest enemy, and boy does it hit heavily. Because of his forcefield powers, he’s been ridiculed as an outsider before the four million year war, and during it, he’s only been known for that power. It’s become a curse to him, basically, with the title ‘one-trick-pony’ not-so-lovingly attached to him. Really, it’s enough to make anyone hate their gift. And because he’s become so synonymous with it, self-esteem is shot down along with it.
To add to that, like any normally sane person, he’s known to be extremely pessimistic and, dare I say it, gloomy when thrust into situations that seem undesirable. He’s used to being left out of a lot of things, or at least left out of recognition, so it takes a damper on him. For as optimistic as he can be about goals, he’s incredibly hard on himself. And the general environment the usually lives in doesn’t let him forget it.
If it ever gets bad, he’s been known to show bits of jealousy to other bots from his world (like Fortress Maximus, who’s infinitely more respected than he is). However, this is usually only when he’s drunk that he’s open about this. Most of the time it’s kept to himself. It’s rare to see him in anything other than ‘a guy just trying to get by’, earning a reputation as someone who’s always optimistic wasn’t by accident.
He’s also someone who’s been through four million years of war. There’s definitely going to be some sensitive topics with him--but he handles them in a way that’s almost second nature. He’s been through battle, he’s seen some stuff go down. He’s not a softie by any means, despite his upbeat personality. When the time calls for it, he jumps to fight and defend those close to him, and isn’t one to shy away from the conflict, no matter what. He may not have had weapons for the longest time, but that didn’t stop him from fighting alongside everyone else.
To sum it up, he’s a good guy, who really wants what’s best for his friends and your traditional Autobot. However, whatever high opinion he has of the cause/friends is completely opposite of what he thinks of himself.
Abilities/Powers/Skills:
-Forcefield: Probably Trailbreaker’s most famous ability. He can generate forcefields from his hands for a limited amount of time (obviously, the more he practices, the longer that time frame is). They’re strong enough to withstand the blast of two aircraft missiles, and can also stop the vacuum of space if a ship’s hull is busted open. It also depends on what he’s forcefielding against as well as how big said forcefield is.
-Magnawheels: The mini-trick hidden by his main trick. Trailbreaker’’s ankle wheels (shoulder wheels too, but they’ll probably never be put to this use) are magnetic, meaning they can attach to any surface that is metal based. Good for acting like Spiderman.
-Gun Legs: newly implemented into Trailbreaker’s lineup. He had one of the Autobot scientists craft guns into his legs, specifically so he’d have some type of weapon and another cool gimmick. ‘Cool’ being used very loosely. They seem to pop out like mini turrets at the kneecap. Probably won’t be used in any way unless severely threatened by space horses.
-Transformation: Trailbreaker has the ability, like most Cybertronians, to turn into a vehicle of some sort. His is a Cybertronian space-like truck.
Weaknesses:
-Trailbreaker’s fuel-consumption is probably the biggest out of all of the Cybertronians known. His forcefields + his clunky alt mode make for this, and sometimes he needs more heavy duty fuel than most people.
-Energon is the main fuel, so getting that for him will be a challenge.
-He’s slow in his vehicle mode unless he books it. Even then, he’s no sportscar by any defnition.
Special Items:
The only thing I’d like him to arrive with is his Rodimus Star, which is a badge of honor of sorts. It’s very important to him. Other than that...just the metal on his back.
